Why Vision Boards Don’t Work (Until They Do)
I love Gabby Bernstein’s work. I’ve taken her manifesting challenge, made vision boards, and sat with the deeper truth she names so clearly:
Vision boards don’t work when we treat them like shopping lists.
Cutting out pictures of what we want is easy.
Becoming the person who can receive it is the real work.
What shifted everything for me was understanding that manifestation isn’t about more wanting—it’s about frequency. It’s about how we feel, how safe we feel, and what our nervous system believes is possible.
When we focus only on things, we skip the most important step:
the feeling state that creates the opening.
There’s real neuroscience behind this. When we anchor into our core desired feelings—peace, freedom, connection, vitality—we begin to program our Reticular Activating System to notice opportunities we couldn’t see before. Not because magic happened overnight, but because we changed.
This is where vision boards become portals instead of projects.
When I create one now, I’m not asking, “What do I want?”
I’m asking, “How do I want to feel in my body and in my life?”
And then I practice that feeling—daily, gently, honestly.
Manifestation isn’t about forcing the future.
It’s about becoming available to it.
As we move toward a new year, my invitation is simple:
Before you paste another image, pause.
Breathe.
Ask yourself what frequency you’re cultivating.
Because when your nervous system feels safe enough to receive, the vision doesn’t have to chase you.
It finds you.
